Introduction

Welcome to Optic Envoy.

Critical bugs found in Envoy

We have identified a bug in Optic Envoy that is currently affecting usability, specifically causing issues with page navigation. We are investigating and working to resolve the issue.

Optic Envoy allows users to connect to the Optic desktop app from any browser, anywhere.

How does it work?

In addition to the Optic app installed on your computer, we've also deployed a web version (that's Optic Envoy). When you open it, you're actually opening an Optic app. However, we don't provide the “actual functionality” of the Optic app—that's handled by the Optic app on your computer.

After pairing, the Optic desktop app and web app begin communicating using a tool called Ably. Before using Ably, the two parties have already exchanged keys for end-to-end encryption, so Ably has no access to this information.

Any actions performed in the Optic web app are equivalent to those performed in the Optic desktop app. This makes it ideal for using Optic on a mobile phone or other devices.

Limitations

In Optic Envoy, due to overall bandwidth limits, you cannot upload files that are too large. Additionally, you cannot create workspaces or configure (though LLMs can use) browser-based web fetch.

To use Optic Envoy, you must update the Optic desktop app to the latest version. We apologize but we cannot provide backward compatibility.
